Officially the best Bed and Breakfast in Darwin

2014-brolga-award-winnerWhat a whirlwind weekend it has been in the Northern Territory with Bromeliad B&B winning the Brolga award for the Best Hosted Accommodation in the Northern Territory.

It has been a journey of love and hard work to get Bromeliad B&B to where it is today and we are really proud of being judged the best bed and breakfast in Darwin and the Northern Territory.

This award is particularly satisfying because we put a lot of ourselves into our role as hosts.

An accessible home away from home

Your hosts, Carol and Geoff McKenzie

What is also heartening is that we won this award for the high calibre of our accommodation, not just for the fact that we have made our home wheelchair friendly and accessible.

Some people wrongly believe that accessible accommodation means skimping on creature comforts but nothing could be further from the truth.

With our wheelchairbound son as our ultimate guide and judge, we have been able to make sure that our deluxe bathrooms and bedrooms are comfortably accessible and, most importantly, that our espresso coffee machine is within easy reach.

Just quietly, while it was a joy being at the awards and being waited upon, it was sublime heading back home to enjoy our creature comforts ourselves.

  1. The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Ie. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the problem solved soon. Many thanks

[…] Bromeliad Bed and Breakfast’s win as Best Hosted Accommodation in the Northern Territory is well deserved and I hope will be an encouragement to other small business owners to have the courage to step outside their comfort zones and place themselves on the international stage, one small step at a time.
